Religions for Peace recognizes that women of faith around the world have enormous capacities for leadership, effective action and possess valuable experiences and resources that, when mobilized, can strengthen community-based effective responses for peace and human development.

The Religions For Peace European Women of Faith Network will be launching the Restoring Dignity Campaign to end violence against women in Sarajevo after the European Council of Religious Leaders meeting. The launch will take place on 10 May 2012, 1800-1900 at Hotel Hollywood, Dr Pintola 23, Ilidza, 71000 Sarajevo.

We would be greatly honoured to have your presence at the launch of this very important initiative. ‘Restoring Dignity’ is a call to action to address the different forms of violence against women. The ‘Restoring Dignity’ initiative recognizes that religious communities have a unique responsibility to preserve the dignity of women and girls.
Respect and dignity of women is a central tenant for peace and security in society. Sometimes violence against women has been perpetrated in the name of religion. However religions if properly mobilised and engaged can be a positive force and powerful resource for addressing violence against them.

15 April 2012There will also be an opportunity to view a unique exhibition produced by the Religions for Peace European Women of Faith Network called “The Dignity of Women- Scriptural Reflections”. This exhibition relates verses from the different religious scriptures regarding the status and honour of women.

We hope you will be able to attend the launch and look forward to hearing from you.
With peace and best wishes
